Hi Chantelle and Garth
Thank you to unlimited events. Julian was amazing and such a star to set up, break down (fearing rain) and re-setup inside. He only left after 10pm. We had a lot of fun!
Yay!! The love of your life has put a gorgeous ring on your finger!
It is almost time to start planning your magical wedding day; but first, you need to celebrate your engagement! Before you dive into the very stressful wedding arrangements, take some time to throw a wonderful engagement party for your family and friends - trust me, people that care about you would love to celebrate the wonderful news with you.
Here are a few things to consider before throwing an engagement party:
The size of your party depends on a lot of factors; however, engagement parties can be a lot more relaxed (in terms of who you should invite) than your actual wedding. Ask yourself the following questions:
Your engagement party is a great opportunity for you to introduce both sides of the emerging family to each other.
You need to choose the perfect date and venue for your engagement party. The venue of your party will determine the formality of the event as well as how many people you will be able to host. There are many different places you can throw an engagement party, including: restaurants, country clubs (if you want to be very extravagant), in your back yard (perfect for tea parties) or inside your home.
If your party is going to be held at a specific venue, such as a country club or a restaurant, you will need to book in advance. Send out invitations at least 1 month before your party (the sooner the better). Engagement parties are typically held 2 to 4 months after the proposal, but you can choose to throw your engagement party sooner or later depending on how long your entire engagement period will be.
This depends on your budget. Remember wedding costs can add up, so don’t use up too much money on unnecessary costs. Sending an email invitation, SMS’s or even calling up your friends and family to invite them to your engagement party will suffice. Also make sure you set a RSVP date.
People love food! Full guests are happy guests. If you are throwing your party at a restaurant you may want to consider platters as this will cut down food costs, especially if you are paying for everyone’s drinks and meals. For other parties, such as garden teas or formal indoor dinners, consider hiring a catering service to serve food and snacks at your party. This will save you a lot of time and money.
Make sure that you cater for all your guests, including: vegans, vegetarian, gluten intolerant, etc.
And, most importantly....
serve enough alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks. Exciting cocktails always add a dash of excitement to an event.

Themes make memorable parties. If you don’t have a theme, your engagement party may seem like an ordinary dinner or lunch to your guests.
There are countless themes to choose from when it comes to engagement parties. Take a look at some awesome event themes that are suitable for any event!
There are many ways to make sure your engagement party is unforgettable; however, avoid planning activities that dampen the mood instead of helping guests enjoy the party. I suggest have a few speeches from friends and family as well as hire a band or a DJ for the party so that there is background entertainment.
Don’t stress too much about making sure your engagement party is perfect; trust me, you will need to save your nerves for your wedding day planning!
